Issy Knowles

Issy Knowles is a Meisner trained actress, National Youth Theatre Member and more recently; an emerging playwright.

Her first play 'Model Behaviour' debuted at Edinburgh's 2018 Fringe Festival where it received glowing 4* reviews across the board and later sold out its London preview at The Arcola Theatre. It then went on to a run at The Pleasance Theatre in London as part of their new writers season ‘You Will Know Their Names’ where it heralded 5/4* reviews and left audiences ‘absolutely furious’ over the treatment of models within the industry. Since then Issy has gone on to produce, write and star in her first film- ‘Model Behaviour the Concept’ which sees the character of ‘Model’ transfer from stage to screen.

Issy says that it was the desire to have her voice heard that inspired her to write Model Behaviour and she intends to spend the next few years developing her skill as a writer and continuing to create her own work.

Life Motto:

Screw your courage to the sticking place and we’ll not fail

Inspiration:

Phoebe-Waller Bridge (Actress and Playwright) - I love what she's created through her play and tv series Fleabag. Finally a truthful female narrative that reveals the wonderful messiness of what it means to be human but most importantly a woman in the modern world!
