WATCH THIS SPACE
Create a launch event for luxury minimalist baby brand VILD House of Little who already have a relationship with the charity Mothers2Mothers. The collection is called Outer Space.
VILD designers Allison Mitchell and Sofia Sköld were inspired by exploration, curious girls and game-changing women. They created the Outer Space collection with the aim of encouraging children, but especially girls, to reach for the stars.
We took this phrase quite literally and decided to throw an immersive space-themed event for 40 specially invited women in an out-of-this-world location in Chalk Farm on the last day of World Space Week which also happened to be International Day of the Girl.
We partnered with the charity Mothers2Mothers and decided to create a shopping experience at the event where all the proceeds of the evening went directly to M2M.
Girls on Film helped us to create a short film made up of interviews Allison did of both the first female computers at NASA and young school girls interested in science.
Our guest speakers:
Dr Emma Chapman: Royal Astronomical Society Research Fellow at Imperial College London also working with the Institute of Physics. Emma is a campaigner for gender equality, a mother of two, and the winner of many awards including the 2017 L’Oreal Women in Science Award.
Sheridan Ash: Technology and Investments Director in the UK for PwC. She also campaigns passionately to get more young girls and women into tech careers.
Bex Coates: Teaching Fellow at UCL's Dept. of Science and Technology Studies. Also working as a science communicator and visual media manager for Twinkle Space Mission and European Space agency candidate ARIEL Space Mission.
...discussed the challenges facing girls today, particularly in the field of science, and offer ways to inspire and make a change for new generations.
As FN co-founder Tijana was chairing the evening she decided, completely unplanned and in perfect conclusion to an evening about mothers, girls, science and inspiration, to invite her mother to the stage to give a speech.
Prof. Danka Tamburic teaches the only science degree at the University of the Arts London (UAL). She founded the first ever degree in Cosmetic Science and now leads the whole science department at London College of Fashion, whilst attending conferences to give lectures all over the world. She is also a mother of two.
The night was an astronomical success; getting the brand great exposure across multiple platforms of women, #WATCHTHISSPACE getting wide social media attention and most importantly we raised just under £1,000 for Mothers2Mothers in 2 hours!
